Art -and how it all started
Why art? Like many other kids I loved art, I loved to draw and paint in my childhood. At the age of three I drew Tina Turner for my mum, she was so proud and encouraged me to draw ever since (as well as practising my music of course). I also have a B.A. in History of Art, so my passion for art is genuin( and studied).
In school as a child, art and music was my favourite topics (no wonder, they are so much fun). They still are my top two favourite topics. I paint and draw these days just for fun and love to create something from the white canvas.
Creativity takes courage -Henri Matisse
Unlike in music, I don’t feel I have to exceed in the same way. So I feel much more relaxed showing my art than my music, the pressure is off when if comes to painting. I love to try out all different kinds of art genres. But my personal style is very abstract. I love to paint themes and places from the universe. Space has always fascinated me in a big way.
I don’t have a favourite artist, I’ve always been impressed by the mathematical techniques that started in the renaissance. The dramatic battle between light and dark (chiaroscuro) in baroque art. Realism and impressionism, abstract, modern. The list really goes on and on.
Life is painting a picture not doing a sum – Oliver Wendell Holmes, Jr
I like to paint with acrylic, just because I don’t have the patience for oil. Lately, I’ve been more comfortable painting on big canvases, and my favourite colour to use is blue. I am a blue painter. I’ve tried other colours, sometimes I’m lucky and other times, not so much.
I sense a scream passing through nature. I painted … the clouds as actual blood. The colour shrieked. –Edvard Munch
Some of my paintings have been sold, and believe me, it’s been hard to let go at times. When are you ever really, truly, madly, deeply finished with a painting?
