Vision Board -How it works
I made my first Vision Board in 2008, I was a student, I lived with a room mate and I worked hard to balance my school, work, and friends.
Also, I wanted to do many different creative projects (some I’m glad I laid to rest) and I thought a Vision Board must be an easier way to see my goals -and to reach them.
A Vision Board is not some magic mumbu jumbo, beacuse it’s a mind exercise. The brain is so smart, and so stupid (but don’t tell your brain I said that). Because that’s also the reason why I love it, (as it goes for the brain) –when you think it, you live it.

But visualization it’s often not enough, we want action. When you create a vision board and place it somewhere you see often, you end up doing short visualization exercises throughout the day.
There is no secret that visualization is a powerful tool, and an effective mind exercise. Athletes have been using visualization for decades to improve their perfomance. And it works!
A Vision Board it a constant reminder of what you want to do, feel and experience in you life. Some are short term goals. others are long. But they are all your goals.
When you focus daily and think about what you want, and not all the things you don’t want, you’ll start working towards your goals. How can you not?

But like I said, this is not magic. This is not a spell you can do and suddenly everything you wanted falls into you lap. We also need to shift from visualization to action. Action is where the magic happens.
I was speaking with Michelle [Obama] and Caroline Kennedy and Maria Shriver – we were all doing a big rally out in California. At the end of the rally Michelle Obama said something powerful: ‘…I want you to leave here and envision Barack Obama taking the oath of office’. I created a vision board. I had never had a vision board before. I came home, I got me a board and put Barack Obama’s picture on it, and I put a picture of my dress I want to wear to the inauguration.”

Many celebrities (not just Oprah) have revealed that they have used, and still like to use a Vision Board. Feel inspired to make one?
How to Make a Vision Board
Making a Vision Board is very easy, and there is no «right» or «wrong» way of doing it. We all have our different ways to approah our goals. As long as you add goals that make you feel good, and you want then that’s what you put on the board.
The first time I made a Vision Board, I bought a small board and hung it on the wall. I printed out photos of places I wanted to see, placed my favourite poem, got stickers and photos of people I admired. I also wanted to focus on my goals and added a CD, writing on it «make music».
That’s what I did then, now I’ve made a digital Vision Board, and it’s my background picture on both my phone, and PC.
Like I said, nothing wrong or right when it comes to how you make your board, as long as you keep up with visualization and repeat every day.

Free Vision Board Template
I’ve made a printable Vision Board template you can write on and make it your own. You can also use this template as a guide. But like I said, you can’t do a «wrong» board.
I’ve intenially used words in present tense, because I believe we shouldn’t think only good things happen in the future. But now.
If you want a new job, imagine that you have the new job, not just «want a new job soon«.
